Blanja Jamu

Mbiyen dina Jumat tanggal 5 Juni aku ngancani kancaku golek adas nggo skripsine dheweke. Kancaku iki neng postingan basa Inggris jenenge Lady Slytherin. Merga iki postingan basa Jawa karo basa Indonesia ya wis aku njenengi Nyonya Besar.

Awake dhewe motoran nyang Pasar Gedhe. Tekan kana takon karo tukang parkir, "Pak, pados obat sinshe ten pundi nggih?" Bar kuwi diancer-anceri panggone. Jebule adas sing digoleki Nyonya Besar ora ana ing toko obat. Ing toko obat kuwi anane obat sinshe sing wis dikemas. Ngendikane sing njaga toko, "Cari di kios jamu aja, Mbak. Di dekat kios buah-buahan di sana itu." 

Mlaku adhoh meneh. Bingung meneh. Takon meneh karo Pak Satpam sing njaga toko teh, "Pak, menawi badhe tumbas jamu ten pundi nggih?" "Ngrika, Mbak. Ngandhap jembatan," ngendikane Pak Satpam.

Pas mlaku menuju kios ngisor jembatan, awake dhewe nggawe video. Ya critane pengen nyoba nggawe video travel kaya YouTuber ngono lho. 

Tekan kios jamu ....
Nyonya Besar (NB): "Pak, ada adas?"
Penjaga toko (PT): "Adas yang jamu apa yang masak?"
NB: "Bedanya apa, Pak?"
PT: "Lha Mbaknya mau mbuat jamu apa mau masak? Kalau mau masak ya beli adas masak."
Aku: "Yang buat masak itu yang manis apa yang pedas?"
PT: "Yang buat masak itu yang manis, baunya agak harum. Kalau yang buat jamu itu yang agak pedas, yang warnanya agak hijau."
NB: "Oh ya udah, Pak. Coba lihat yang manis dulu."
PT: (maringi adas manis)
NB: "Ini harganya berapa, Pak?"
PT: "Mbaknya mau beli berapa?"
NB: "Sekilo berapa?"
PT: "Sekilo Rp 50.000,00."
NB: "Ya sudah, Pak. Beli sekilo sekalian."

Three Songs and Some Stories

Today's prompt in Writing 101 is, "Write about the three most important songs in your life - what do they mean to you?"
I listen to many songs but I don't actually have important songs in my life. However, I'll still make a list of three songs.
3. Welcome to the Black Parade - My Chemical Romance 
When I read the lyrics for the first time, there were some words I didn't know the meaning. I guess I should thank My Chemical Romance for expanding my vocabulary. 
2. Child in Time - Deep Purple
My mother bought Deep Purple cassette several times and she was always disappointed if the Child in Time song in the cassette is just the 4 minute version. She said, "Why is this song cut? You should listen to the long version. It's very good." Then one day we bought a CD and we cheered after finding out that it had the long version of Child in Time.
1. Asmaradana
I haven't found a version of Asmaradana that I like in YouTube. In wikipedia, there are two versions of Asmaradana lyrics. The one was often sung by my late grandmother.

Aja turu sore kaki                              (Don't sleep early, [kaki])
Ana dewa nganglang jagad            (There is god wandering around the universe)
Nyangking bokor kencanane          (carrying a golden [box])
Isine donga tetulak                            (It contains [prayer against the bad])

The words I put in [....] are the words I'm not sure about the translation. I understand the meaning but I just don't know the proper English translation. "Kaki" in this song is not "kaki" in Indonesian which means foot. Kaki here is for addressing someone but I forget who that someone is.
By the way in wikipedia, the last line is, "wong welek sabar narima" but my grandma sang it as, "wong melek sabar narima."
Since I'm not so philosophical right now, I will write about the message behind this song in the future.

Words

One of my questions in Liebster Award is about favourite word and the answers are various. There are onomatopoeia, inspiration, mamma, and popliteal. I asked that question because I'm interested in language and here are some of my favourite words from some languages

1. Jawa
Garwa
Garwa iku bojo. Ing kerata basa, garwa iku sigaraning nyawa.
Garwa means wife or husband in Javanese. In kerata basa (I will explain about it in the future, hopefully), garwa is sigaraning nyawa (literally means a split of soul).

2. Indonesia
Sepeda
Karena saya lama gak naik sepeda.
Sepeda means bicycle. Because I haven't rid bicycle for a long time.

3. English
Fantasy
When you're bored, try to add a little more fantasy to your life.

4. Русский
Корову

Моя мама и я смотрим “Маша и Медвед” Следы НевиданныхЗверей. Маша гоборит “Корову” но моя мама слышит “Kerupuk”.

My mom and I watch "Masha and the Bear" Track of Unknown Animal. Masha says "Корову" (pronounced karovu, it means cow) but my mom hears "Kerupuk".

Blume

Das Wort “Blume” klingt schön und ich möchte Blume kaufen.

The word "Blume" (it means flower) sounds nice and I want to buy flower.

6. Chinese

I haven't learned Chinese again for a long time so I forget many words. My favourite words are 癌 and 爱. Both words are pronounced "ai" but with different tones. 癌 means cancer while 爱 means love. It's interesting that with different tone, a nice word which means love can be cancer. Learn more about tone in Chinese language here.

7. Arabic

كيف

كيف is pronounced "kaifa" and it means "how". I just like the way it sounds.

8. Hebrew

בית

בית is pronounced "bayet" (or bayit?) and it means home. If you know Arabic you will notice that it sounds similar to the word "bait" in Arabic which also means home.

9. Latin and Greek

There are many medical terms derived from Latin or Greek. For example, in sternum (breastbone), there are manubrium sterni and processus xiphoideus. Manubrium means handle in Latin while xiphoid means sword-like in Greek.

Gething Nyanding

"Gething nyanding" is a Javanese idiom. Gething means hate and nyanding means approach or become close. It can be used as reminder that sometimes the thing or person that we hate may become the one that's close to us. So be careful with your hate.
